Question about that giant lobster
How do you think he would taste?

Wouldn't his meat be awfully tough?

I'm glad he wasn't cooked. You can tell the person who made the decision not to kill him wasn't a "compassionate conservative".

2. I think he'd taste great! But he'd be such a nice old fellow, it
would seem a shame.

According to the Guinness Book of World's Records, the largest lobster was caught in 1977 in Nova Scotia and weighed 44 lb., 6 oz. measuring 3 ft. 6 inches from the end of the tail to the tip of the claw. He was estimated to be close to 100 years old. In colonial times, they claimed lobsters grew 5 or 6 feet. Certainly prehistoric lobsters did.

"What is the largest lobster The William Atwood Lobster Company has ever shipped?
The largest lobster ever shipped was 25" to 30" long and approximately 27 pounds. It was caught in Canada (where oversized restrictions weren't in place). Picture the width of a kid's lunchbox - which was the width of that lobster. The Palms Restaurant in NYC wanted it."

Wonder if they served that lobster at the Palm? I'm taking my mom there soon for a birthday lobster! But it will only be a 3 or 4 lber.

Delicious. The restaurant displayed the claws of great lobsters of its past. Largest was 23 pounds. I was told that it was really good.

5. I vote tough
I don't know if lobsters get tougher as they age but think about how tough some of those giant stewing chickens are if you don't slow-cook them just right.

Let the old dude enjoy what's left of his life, I say. It would be a shame to cook such a marvel only to find he was inedible!

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

12. During the California goldrush
in SF, lobster was considered poor folks food. Supposedly huge lobsters could easily be caught on the beach. (I do remember something from HS ;-))Maybe they were tough and that's why the rich didn't like them.

HeyHey -- I love your polar bears :D

I watched a special on the animal channel, in which they raised two from birth.

They sure turn vicious at an early age, but they are magnificent animals.
