8. but it does happen...
...and I know this from personal experience. Several experiences, actually, and none... *none* were initiated by me, the gay guy.

All the alcohol-related str8/gay sexual encounters I've ever had involve the "straight" man approaching *me*. This only after consuming large amounts of alcohol.

The excuses range from trying anything once to hoping they're too drunk to remember. Yup- I even woke up in bed with one.... in a twin bed, no less.

People, this is true in many more cases than most straight men will admit.

Yup, they're two different substances. :)

It might take six beers to skew orientation that much -- but at my age, alcohol's "great prevaricator" effect kicks in and makes me fall asleep after about #4. :)

13. Still.....
I'd kinda like to test this in reality once. Ya know, just to see if it works with TWO str8 men, vs. knowing it works (that personal experience thing) between one who's str8 and one who's known to be gay.

If one guy is gay, one is str8, and they both get sloshed and go "back to my place for a nightcap"... well... things do indeed happen, and in my experience more often than not. And again, *I* didn't broach the subject in my experiences... the drunk str8 guy did. Every time.

16. I somehow doubt....
...that that would be completely true if your judgement is screwed sideways by a large amount of alcohol. But then, as you imply, you'd likely pass out before "going the extra mile", so to speak.

Most of the "straight" men I've ever met actually would engage in some sort of same-sex activity, given the motivation to do so. Most, but not all. And the experiences I related to above, again, were not initiated by me, but rather by men I wouldn't ever have suspected of even being "curious".

Yes, Virginia, there really is some truth to this. :)

I've been piss-drunk around my gay friends many times, but never really found them to be attractive. None of my piss-drunk friends have ever come on to me either.

The link was funny, but I doubt it was meant to be considered as having much truth to it.

33. I guess maybe it depends
on a couple of other factors as well. The only times it's ever happened to me were in situations where the str8 guy knew he woulodn't be found out, knew I wouldn't talkabout it- even to him in private- and knew I wouldn't make any moves of my own afterward.

Maybe it just depends on what you think you can safely get away with.

Edited on Sat Oct-11-03 11:47 AM by kgfnally
And the men I've had this exact experience with all profess to be str8 to this day.

Kinda like, if I slept with a woman once, would that "change" me, even to bisexual? I somehow doubt it. Would I want to do it again? Well, that's contingent on doing it in the first place, isn't it?

on edit: it's not wishful thinking, either; for me, it's a personally experienced fact.

21. I wouldn't know.
But it's an interesting idea to file away. I personally have never slept with the opposite sex.

And I'm 28. Maybe it's time.

That said, if I *am* going to do so, I'd rather not have alcohol involved the first time around. Now, a good blunt.... that's another story. The sad fact is that pot doesn't screw with your judgement in the same way alcohol does.

That said, yes, I do think it can work the other way.

Because it's the stereotypical redneck guy beer of choice. Again, that's a comedy link, not a scientific study of actual behaviour.

There's nothing at all scientific about it. However, they also hit the nail on the proverbial head. While it's not always true, I give this behavior even odds.

35. I'll admit to drinking Bud on occasion.
It's a good beer for when you're doing yardwork or any other hot-weather outdoor activity. Mostly because it's not too unlike water.

I don't want to turn this into a beer-thread, but lately, I've become a big fan of Molings red ale (Irish import). Good stuff; not too filling, but smooth and tasty without the traditional English bitterness.

Back on topic: Beer doesn't make me gay. Sure, I'll hug my friends and tell them how much I love them, but that's not gay. That's just drunk.

:D

I know from personal experience that *many* otherwise straight guys will 'fool around' to some degree or another (usually 'the whole way'), given enough alcohol. Please note, I did not say 'all', I said 'many'. I will not reveal names, however...

PS--- One encounter gave birth to my all-time favorite 'cigarette after' verbal exchange; after we had done 'the deed', I asked Mr. X if 'it' had hurt, and he replied "No. Was it supposed to?" :P

...Budweiser must simply be the worst beer ever to be unleashed upon us poor subjects.

Then again, as I've experienced for the umpteenth time tonight, the Norwegian beer Frydenlund offers proper, alcohol-fuelled fun, coupled with the Norwegian national team beating Luxembourg 1-0 in football (although after a dreadful, horrible match...cue said beer...)

54. I'm not a guy
Maybe women are different. I got drunk before a sorority formal and heavily flirted with a lesbian member's girlfriend although she started it. Nothing happened because both my husband and her girlfriend were there and I don't know if I'd have gone that far. I have had alcohol make me think people were attractive that I wouldn't normally find attractive. I have never done anything sexual under the influence of alcohol that I would not normally do and tend to be less sexual when it comes to actually doing the deed.

57. Nope. I used to hang around with the gay crowd in Louisville, and
we had a blow-the-doors-off party one night. A gay friend of mine cornered me on the stairs when we were both pretty well blitzed and propositioned me. I told him, smashed or sober, that just wasn't for me. He was the sweetest, nicest guy in the world, and I hated turning him down. Man, it was weird, saying, 'we can just be friends' to a guy.

Later, I went upstairs and got it on with a cute chick who looked like Lisa Loeb. Life's been good to me.
