Does anyone belong to Fly Ladies?
Edited on Sat Oct-11-03 11:15 AM by coalminersdaughter
It's an internet service that sends you e-mails telling you to do certain household chores. If you don't see me much around here it's because the Fly Lady has me working.

My biggest concern is that it will tell be to do something stupid like vote for Bush*.

edit: it's free and though the home page looks cluttered, the e-mails are not.

1. It has helped my car more than my house
I read it a lot, but I don't subscribe to the emails any more. They were way too frequent (and the prayer requests got old, in spite of the fact she says, "if offended, please delete.")

The most successful project I ever did from FLylady was the car cleanup. I'm never embarrassed to give anyone a ride anymore.

My house is still a mess, tho.

Were you reading the site when 9-11 came along? Remember her "prayer for my enemy"? I actually liked that one. Too bad she gave up on the housework war games at that time, especially the pow clutter and the secret weapon crockpot.

2. I just found it today
I figured it would have a right wing bend to it. I do need some inspiration to get my housework done. I'm definitely not into prayer requests. That will get deleted real quick.

3. I did, but then never got to it, and then the emails came like the plague
and I would end up with 100 emails to clean out and it made my computer experience messier, while my house stayed just as disorganized. I do shine my sink though. Remember, stay in your zone and don't forget to go to bed, you need your rest. Those are a couple of the emails I remember. Good luck, I hope it works for you. I am too lazy to even open email from Flylady...heehee

4. I'll probably be right behind you.
There is something about housework that shouts procrastinate when I'm in the room.

5. I learned a lot from it
But I, too, had to stop it because of the volume of email and the prayer stuff.

I still try to do the 10 minute clean ups and my sink is spotless!

However, I still live with CHAOS...Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome. If you come visiting you take the house the way it is. :D

6. I like Flylady
Really helped me get my house in order. I stopped doing it after a while....doing the emails that is. There are way too many. I have kept up my house which is a feat all onto itself with me. You should at least give it a try.

8. No way!
I used to be friends with an avid flylady fan and I checked it out a couple years ago. This is not for me. I keep up with cleaning basics and do the big stuff in spurts with the mood (or necessity) strikes me. Flylady's proposals are way too anal retentive for me. Besides, Flylady doesn't have a toddler. Toddlers are the inhibitors of many best laid plans.
