Could System Of A Down quite possibly be the best band in the world??
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 09:43 PM by SmileyBoy
Is SOAD the greatest rock band on the planet right now??

I say YES. I challenge you to convince me that they aren't.

They're the most talented musicians that have come out in a long time. Serj has such a unique, creative and flexible singing voice. Daron is the absolute best at beating the shit out of that guitar. Shavo is one of the greatest bass players in the world today. And John is such a fast, creative drummer. Their lyrics and music run the gamut from angry and political to fun and light-hearted. Their music ranges from sad and melancholy to energetic and high-spirited.

No band in the world has the talent that these four Armenian-American men from Los Angeles have. NO OTHER BAND in the world can touch the awesomeness and rockability of System Of A Down. The next best band is literally a piece of CRAP compared to them. These guys are actually NEW and FRESH, unlike some bands who try to make you think they are, when they're really not.

Now don't get me wrong, I listen to and like a LOT of other bands. But nothing comes close to SOAD nowadays. Those of you who say that music is currently dead aren't really telling the truth. It's currently in a coma and on life-support, but that beeping machine with attached IV is represented by SYSTEM OF A DOWN.

Anyone dare to challenge me on this??

One more thing: Have any of you actually heard anyone criticize SOAD??? Cause I sure as hell haven't. They're almost impervious to criticism, because they're SO DAMN GOOD.

1. I love their music
And I love the fact that they have a lot of intelligent political and social commentary cleverly disguised as just anger, which surprises a lot of people.

5. they are very good.
all around they are without a doubt one of the best bands to hit the mainstream in years. however, I've really been getting into melodic swedish metal such as bands like Soilwork and In Flanes. Not really mainstream, but very very good.

9. that's my least favorite record by them.
i'd recommend Whoracle or Reroute to Remain.

However, I strongly recommend Soilwork's Natural Born Chaos, or their new one Stabbing the Drama. They are perhaps two of the best records I've ever listened to in my life.

is the name of the newest.

Whoracle came out in 98 or 97. VERY good record.

16. SOAD could be second best. Unfortunately for them Jack White is #1
Consensus best guitarist in the world. That would put the White Stripes on top, despite his "sister".

And 60 Minutes confirms this fact. Jack is on nearly every week. I sure as hell do not see SOAD on 60 Minutes.

17. Cause SOAD doesn't sell out.
They don't plaster their faces all over the media.

20. I understand your point
But 60 Minutes is not like Entertainment Tonight. Just like the Supreme Court is not the same as traffic court.

I'm not saying SOAD is not a great band. They are. It is just hard to compete with the greatest guitarist in the world, Jack White. It is not their fault.

The White Stripes also have a potentially unique angle that no other band has. The tantalizing possibility (not likely, but possible) that Jack White is fucking his sister. Not that I believe it, but that would be pure rock and roll.

21. uhhhhh....no, he's not
As a guitar player, he's marginal, at best. Good songwriter though.

18. I just have to say, in all honesty...
no.

They don't have a very original sound, and most of their songs just seem to get lost in the mix, not very groundbreaking or inspiring.

19. I remember when Chop Suey first came out, I was so obsessed with it
This one radio station in Seattle always played the 10 most played songs of the day, it was number 1 for like two or three months straight.
