Who the fuck ate my truffles?
I had a box of Trader Joe's dark chocolate truffles in the cabinet, and one of you losers ate all but one.

Don't you know I neeeeeeeeeeed those truffles tonight?

I poured myself a big glass of milk and commenced to drown myself in lovely rich chocolate. But no drowning now. Oh no. And now the milk to chocolate ratio is all off.

14. Oh damn.. damn... damn
I hate it when that happens. There is a very scientific formula for milk to chocolate ratio and it should never be mucked with.

That sucks sweetie! Did you have a better day today? I mean except for this?

23. Thank you for understanding my dilemma.
I have resorted to eating traditional mexican chocolate - which is very good when melted for hot chocolate but a bit too complex for snacking - to complement the rest of my milk.

This Oaxacan chocolate is to Mexico what Valrhona is to France—carefully produced, distinct, a standard against which you can judge all others in its class. The texture is coarse, like the Sicilian chocolate we offer, with little sugar crystals exploding in your mouth and a dark, subtle, cinnamon and smoke flavor. Although it comes solid and you can eat it as is, I think it’s best enjoyed made into Mexican hot chocolate, so we’ll include an easy recipe along with your order.

26. Yeah I know about mexican chocolate
I get the already powdered kind so that I don't have to take the time melting it.. but it makes great hot chocolate. Mine has a little cayenne in addition to the cinnamon for an added kick. I get it at Whole Foods.

I even have the Mr. Coffee Cocomotion hot chocolate maker.

That's how serious I am about my hot chocolate!

Mexican chocolate whole... that was a seriously bad day. What happened? How'd the interview go today?

32. They make a hot chocolate maker?
Who knew?

It wasn't an interview - just a meeting with her in her capacity as Development Director for the National Endowment for the Arts. We're working out the details of a partnership. She's astonishingly charming and smart and kind and I can't believe I actually liked her.

Maybe Alberto Gonzales isn't a total monster? :shrug:

20. Oh... dear god.
* 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 1/4 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon baking soda
* 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
* 1 1/2 cups white sugar

DIRECTIONS:

1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking soda, cream of tartar, and sugar. Stir with a whisk, then place into a one quart canning jar.
2. Attach a tag with the following recipe to the jar: Snickerdoodles 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. In a large bowl, cream 1 cup of butter and 2 eggs. Pour in the snickerdoodle mix, and stir until a dough forms. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls, roll the balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture, and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. 3. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cookies should be light brown. Cool on wire racks.

25. The TJ truffles are NASTY!
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 10:43 PM by Saint Etienne17
The ones I have seen there have lots of oil in the product. The best way to make truffles is with a bag of bittersweet chocolate chips and a cup of heavy whipping cream blended together over a double boiler to make a ganache. Let it cool, scoop out the truffle and dust 'em with cocoa. That's the way my mom makes 'em :9

I don't know if you had the same ones my mom tried, but I read the ingredient list, and it was blasphemous.
