Can you decipher this Bush Sr. quote??
"Remember Lincoln, going to his knees in times of trial in the Civil War and all that stuff. You can't be. And we are so blessed. So don't feel sorry for-don't cry for me Argentina."

~George HW Bush, 1992 during New Hamphire Primary

1. He can't have said that, no.
I can't make heads or tails of it, and I defy anyone to reveal its faux-hidden meaning!

2. "If you think I'm an idiot wait until you meet my oldest son...
that pigfucker is just plain stupid".

That's what I think he meant anyways.

3. It means
he hears voices, thinks they are God talking to him, and dreams of war after war after war forever. Unfortunately, he got his wish, and we are once again stuck with a damn repug as president. Since when do they let people who hear voices act out on what the voices are telling them what to do and go without meds????

p.s. This is no slap against REAL shizophrenic people, who make WAY more sense than this sorry excuse for a president and are generally good people unlike this president.

14. OK, here's a lame attempt to decipher this undecipherable mishmash...
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 02:17 AM by Seabiscuit
1. "Remember Lincoln, going to his knees... and all that stuff." He's bracing us for what he knew to be a growing onslaught by the KKKristian right-wing fundies in the media, while falsely invoking someone as noble as Lincoln to pander that shit.

2. "You can't be". Doesn't follow, doesn't make sense, doesn't connect with the prior sentence or the following sentence. Total idiocy. "You can't be..." Lincoln? You can't be "in the Civil War" because it happened before we were born? WTF? I give up on this one.

3. "And we are so blessed." A harking back to the Plastic Jeeeeezus theme of the first sentence, but thoroughly disjointed. So far we're still at ground zero trying to credit this cretin with any more oil in the brain than 10 quarts low.

4. "So don't feel sorry for..." for what??? "-don't cry for me Argentina"???? Don't feel sorry for Madonna's movie? Don't feel sorry for the Perons? Don't feel sorry for Argentina? And the connection to the overall Plastic Jeeezus theme is exactly what????

Forget it. I give up. No wonder his son's the biggest moron this world has ever had to suffer. The father was a blithering idiot.

15. that's a noble attempt
best i can come up with is that he doesn't want us to be forced to our knees, like Lincoln was. then i don't know what the heck he's talking about.

17. I don't even know what he's talking about if he thinks Lincoln was
"forced to his knees".

18. We may have to ask an A-List panel of surrealists --
-- to decipher that one. I remember when he actually said it and it isn't any more clear now than it was then.

20. Nah, can't make heads of tails of it but I'll see your 41 and raise
you a 43:

"Does that make any sense to you? It's kind of muddled. Look, there's a series of things that cause the... like, for example, benefits are calculated based upon the increase of wages, as opposed to the increase of prices. Some have suggested that we calculate ... the benefits will rise based upon inflation, as opposed to wage increases. There is a reform that would help solve the red if that were put into effect. In other words, how fast benefits grow, how fast the promised benefits grow, if those ... if that growth is affected, it will help on the red. OK, better? I'll keep working on it."
