3. Run Lola Run was a cool movie
Because of the style it was filmed and that blazing techno soundtrack

9. I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
I finally saw all of it on Oxygen and recorded it on VCR. I'm going to try and get a DVD to send to my friend's daughter. She's a cool college girl who speaks German and visits Austria/Germany almost every summer. She also like Depeche Mode. I think she'll love it.

6. Well since HST died recently
everyone should go and see Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which I did this morning at 630 AM this morning.

8. I can't really decide if I like that film
I saw it when it was released and was severely disappointed. Then I saw it on late night TV a while back and thought to myself, hmmmm not so bad.

Maybe I'm just indecisive. :P "Don't stop here, this is bat country!"

I did like Where the Buffalo Roam for what its worth.

11. "Buffalo" was more of a standard comedy...
..."F&L" was as close an attempt to translate the original book into cinematic terms as possible.

I think the reason the latter didn't do so well (and inspired very mixed critical reactions) is that, let's face it, it might be more enjoyable to read about HST's drug-fueled visions than to actually experience them for yourself.

13. I think you're on to something there

Watching the movie I had more of a 'wow, that's kind of disturbing" response than when I read the book. Though admittedly I was a lot younger and a lot more tuned into the drug culture when I first read the book and went "hell yeah!"

19. Not to mention that Tery Gilliam never gets really fair reviews...
Edited on Fri Mar-04-05 02:47 AM by CanuckAmok
I have no idea why, but he seems to be reviled by the Hollywood press. All his movies have been so great, and so under-rated.

On edit: Sorry, I forgot about Baron Munchausem, which was crap.

7. Equilibrium
Christian Bale had some awesome "Matrix" (the gun-katas) moves.

I'd be willing to maim to get a crack at reworking the screenplay though. It needed fleshing out.

But the budget was low so I give a big thumbs up for what the producers were able to do.

The movie Thief with Jimmy Caan was very cool too.

24. I agree. Violent poser crapola.
With "witty" pop culture obligations to justify all the senseless violence and depravity.

And that description applies to pretty much any Tarantulatino film...
