Did you know how much your co-workers make $ ?
I work in Fortune 500 company with many thousands of employees and happened across a report that listed everyone's salary. Now, in most places salaries are big secrets, yet, it seems many employees have an idea what co-workers make - but your never really know for sure. Well, knowing exactly what everyone makes surely opened my eyes. It certainly is going to help me ask for more money and/or move to another department where the real money is. The real kicker is seeing those who I thought were slackers or not too bright making big bucks. A little depressing but at the same time valuable information.

1. I try and not discuss the topic....
But it annoys me when the ass kissers and slackers make more money than people who do actual work....

2. Once someone accidentally sent me
a huge budget spreadsheet and a list of people who were and weren't being offered contracts for the next school year.

I kinda freaked. I mean, obviously it landed in the wrong mailbox. I only told my best friend, who was at that school, too.

I just hid it in my file cabinet. I was too scared to do anything with it. I think I still have it somewhere.

3. If the pay were honestly calculated for productivity, it would not be
a secret.

So, since it's usually a secret, what do you suppose the sitution is?

Favoritism, cronyism, nepotism, sexism, racism, etc.

6. I really think that's true.
A stellar example: I once accepted a position where my predecessor apparently bitched non stop about having to work too hard, not being able to keep up with the work load & putting in excessive OT. She received such a large pay raise that there was nothing left in the budget for the rest of the department, but she still moved to another job in the company that was less strenuous. Within a few months or starting the job, I'd totally restructured the position. My redesigned forms, procedures & instruction manuals were being used by the CEO for training purposes. I attempted to get additional work assigned, but failing this, I was leaving every day at 1-2 pm because there was nothing else to do. Did I receive a raise? Hell, no. Why should they pay me more since I obviously wasn't working as hard as the previous employee!! :freak: :wtf:

5. That's why we formed labor unions.
Of course America has turned against them in favor of importing everything from China and now out-sourcing what jobs are left.
