OK...Not To Be Crabby, But...I REALLY Wish The Ann/Man Coulter Jokes
would stop.

As a transgender woman, I do not find them very funny.

Yeah, Ann coulter is a walking piece of shit. But, damn, I really have a problem with people going on about "Ann The Man" and shit like that.

1. She does have an
adam's apple, but other than that she's definitely a woman, although not a pretty one. Sorry if I ever said anything that was offensive, but I am a female who feels like a male inside so I can see how it could hurt if you take it to heart or as a personal thing. I'm sorry. I never meant to hurt anyone if I did. Coulter is a hideous monster though. Transgendered people are not.

2. That Is Why
I don't like the Ann/Man references. She is a horrible human being...and I don't like the gender jokes about Ann, because, quite frankly, I don't know any transgender people who are THAT horrid.

Besides, I just don't care for anyone to have their gender questioned like that. One of the most fundamental things about our own self-identity is our gender. For most of us, fortunately, our gender is congruent with our birth sex. For those of us who were born with an incongruency between our gender and our sex...these jokes are basically vicious and cruel.

I know no DU'er is TRYING to be vicious and cruel to TG people when making these jokes, but, please...can we find another way to trash ann without stooping to the Ann/Man jokes?

And yes, Ann DOES have an Adam's apple. Even bigger than mine, which you can hardly even see.

3. Amen, Mermaid
I am 100% in support of what you say here.

Bigotry NEVER justifies more bigotry.

4. Wouldn't it be nice if no one were offended on here?
Bashing of Southern states, bashing of religion. It happens to just about everyone. Sorry, but she is fair game. I won't be making any comments about her right now though. I'm too busy enjoying the sunny and warm winter weather in Texas. :P

I remember the day the story broke here. As well behaved as DU usually is on these issues...It was homophobia city for a few hours. Reminded me of Freeperville.

7. Exactly. I agree wholeheartedly.

As a straight male, I'm don't find "Ann the Man" jokes to be offensive -- but I do find them very facile, lazy, tiresome and irritating. I wholly agree with Mondo Joe's sentiment "is that the best you've got?"

There are plenty of genuine characteristics of Ann Coltface that we can attack and make fun of her for (like the fact that she's in her 40's and doesn't seem to be able to keep a boyfriend), and the transgender jokes only detract from that.

8. oh, and let me add to my previous comment....

I've joked more than once that Coulter blames us liberals for the fact that she's reached her 40's without being married and having kids or even being able to keep a long-term boyfriend. However, I suspect that there is a small grain of truth to that.

"Ann the Man" jokes are lame compared to the kind of genuine shots that we should be, and aren't, taking at her.

9. The politics of personal destruction
The right has perfected it over the years but the left plays the game as well.

I don't care if Limbaugh is overweight.

I don't care about Coulter's gender.

I don't care if Gannon is gay.

I do care that these people tell lies to promote a regressive, right-wing agenda.

Attack the message, not the messenger.
