Pentagon Flag That Flew On 9/11 To Be Auctioned Off On eBay

ORANGE, Va. -- A cancer patient is selling an American flag pulled from the Pentagon after Sept. 11, 2001, to raise money for his family in case he does not survive.

David Nicholson is putting the flag up on eBay starting today.

He said he has already turned down a $100,000 offer.

The winning bidder also gets a letter of authenticity from the construction company that flew the flag at the Pentagon.

Nicholson is undergoing chemotherapy for kidney cancer.

He said he hopes the auction yields enough money to take care of his family if he does not recover.

He said he has "got to do" what he's "got to do." He said maybe that's why he ended up with the flag.

Nicholson got the flag from an acquaintance who was a manager of the construction company.
