7. Frito-Lay Rebranded Their "Wow" Chips

Which included Ruffles, Lays, and Doritos and put them in a different colored bag and called them "Lite". No fat, half the calories. Same chips. Same use of the "Olean/Olestra" fat substitute, which creates a slick film inside your mouth but otherwise allows the chips to retain their original taste and texture.

Frito Lay has so far been the only company to use the fat substitute, which was trumpeted as a miracle fat because it isn't absorbed by the body - it's 100% Garbage In/Garbage Out. With that in mind, if you're in a particularly unlucky portion of the population you may experience the most famous side effect of Olean/Olestra: the oh-so-ominous-sounding ANAL LEAKAGE.

It used to be that they had to print warnings about Olean/Olestra and its various gastrointestinal-related side effects, but the new "Lite" chips have no such warnings.
