My *baby girl* kitty is probably about to die at home alone.

....I'm stuck at work....NO way to get off early...just started this long-term temp job last week and everyone else except my immediate boss took off work today and I'm pretty sure my poor little one isn't gonna be alive when I get home this afternoon....I took her to the vet and he gave her a shot of antibiotics and some more drops to give her twice a day...she seemed better after the shot but has continued to decline ever since....her eyes this mornin' were all caked up and she was barely breathin'...I had to take her to her water bowl...she finally drank some...but wouldn't eat anything at all....I've been so damn worrried about her...yesterday when I came home was the first time since I saved her from freezin' and starvin' to death in mid Dec...that she didn't come to greet me when I came home....she's had such a hard life..she fought back from near starvation and now is dyin' from a cold or flu she got when I took her to have her and her brother to have 'em fixed... :cry: :cry: :cry:

I will keep good thoughts for you and your baby. Please keep us posted.

....I just hope she'll keep fightin' at least until I get home to be with her....sigh :(

I know when my baby--my 17 year old cat is still my bb too--goes to her spiritual reward--I will be devastated.

The fact that she drank some water is a good sign. When you get home you may need to force feed her a bit with an eyedropper or small syringe - kitten formula mixed with some chicken broth, just a teaspoon at a time.

Sending good kitty karma your way. I've been doing cat rescues for a few years now and feed a feral colony on my block and it continues t outrage me the way some people just dump their pets when they no longer have any use for them.

So many cats & kittens in this world die never knowing what it's like to co-exist with bipeds (humans). Your kitten had that thrill which is probably why she tried so hard to keep alive so she could be a part of it. You've done a wonderful job.

I still see strays outside of my apartment complex and I wish I could bring them all inside but I neither have the resources or the ability to catch all these cats. I'm just glad that I was able to save the 2 I have from life on the streets. Abbott had a home but they abandoned him and all Evita ever knew before I adopted her was life on the streets. I could leave my door wide open and toss either cat outside and they'd be back inside before the door would slam. It's like they know what it's like to be out there and they don't want to go back there again!

Little one was loved and taken care of.

Let us know how things turn out.

My 12 year old obese cat is going downhill pretty steadily and I'm trying to steel myself for an eventual death. I hope it doesn't happen, but she's got a lot of problems. She's had a good life, though, so, unlike when my bunnies died a couple years ago, I won't feel horribly guilty, but I'll still be broken hearted.

shelter here, I saw a number of cats knockin on heaven's door that came back (they had URI). She's obviously a fighter.

It's really heartbreaking. I am hoping for the best for both of you. I lost my 19-year-old Fergus in 2003, and I thought it would kill me, but I know he's looking out for my other two beasties, Monty and Simba. Please let us know what happens. Take care. :hug:

I am hoping that she made it through the day and will have a good weekend with plenty of care and attention.

But whatever happens, please know you did the best you could. You gave these kitties something not everyone would be will to do. I know how you feel. Sometimes what we do isn't enough. It sucks but at least we try which is more than most people would do. :hug:
