I can see how it's still not perfect for the computer illiterate because it does get tricky trying to convert files to MP3, but once you got it down, My God! How can life ever be the same! I use to jog with my CD player on my back and I looked like the hunch back of Notre Dame, but now with the leather strap on my arm, I look like a frumpy housewife with S & M ambitions!

Only mistake I made was settle for the 256MB model because is was red. To anyone who wants to buy one, don't go less than 512MB. MP3 files are larger than wma or wav files and Classical music can take a great deal of space.

4. You're right. .wav's are larger files
A .wav file is uncompressed and, song for song, takes much more space than an .mp3, even if the .mp3 is ripped at the lowest level of compression (320kbps with most encoders).

5. You might be right.

I originally downloaded the files as WMAs but the music program in the player only recognized MP3 extensions. So I had to convert everything and found out that I had to delete 13 songs in the process because the files were larger.

Now that you mention it, I accidentally convereted a file to .wav and later redid it to mp3. The wav file was so large I thought for sure I had made a mistake somewhere. It was considerably larger.

2. 512K?
I think you mean 512 MB. You wouldn't be able to store even one song on 512K. ;)

6. Am mp3 file should be between about 12 and 25% of the .wav
depending on compression ratio. Of course opinions vary on whether or not you can tell the difference between the original and the mp3 once the 75% or so has been "removed" (never to return). At lower compression levels you certainly can.

On the other hand, I never really took to CDs anyway, so I guess I'm the last one who should complain about mp3s.
