I know they're not the boss of me. But I'm an only child and they are my only family, so this makes me very sad.

It's made worse by the fact that my mother chose to elaborate by telling me that I've always been a complete and utter disappointment to them and what a tragedy it was that they only had one kid. :(

who's been with a woman chronologically more advanced than he for many years now. Caught all kinds of shit from both families. Totally needless.

I live in California and come from Vermont where I have 4 siblings and many long time friends. I go back once or twice a year and on at least two occasions, I've contacted NO ONE except my best friend. However, I don't expect them to contact me either. It's not that I don't love my family or get along with them but it gets kind of overwhelming sometimes for me - all that social bullshit. I guess I'm just a grumpy loner...

I only interact with my younger sister, Carol, and my baby brother, John.

The rest of them can go fuck themselves.

I have four parents--mother and stepfather, father and stepmother.

Every last one of them sucks eggs. Seriously. How did I get FOUR parents and they all suck? Wasn't some law of probability on my side?

The only halfway decent one is my father and he's a spineless liar who doesn't stick up for his kids or himself.

The rest are FAR worse. (Serious mental illness, hardcore alcoholism, physically abusive, criminal, etc.)

All four of my biological grandparents ROCKED, they were awesome. Kind, loving, got along great with people.

Of course they are all deceased. :cry: And HOW did they have such messed up kids?

AND I have a brother, a half-brother, and a half-sister. All three of them sacks of shit. Both brothers are deep into drugs and hateful as all get out, and my half-sister's life is so messed up she can't see straight AND she never got over hating and being jealous of me. Why? Because I was born. Because I dared to exist. She's got three kids under the age of 3 1/2, is pregnant with twins (just found out) and is separated from her husband and father of all these kids AND doesn't even raise them. My father and stepmother are raising them, which is going to put them in the poorhouse fast if she doesn't stop having babies. They are probably going to put the twins up for adoption. And she's been busted for heroin possession.

Sorry, didn't mean to dump all this here. It all sounds very melodramatic, but these people are all pieces of work. I am thankful I have a wonderful husband and daughter and fan-fucking-tastic friends, who are my family.
