No more modern rock in Philadelphia.
The corporate bastards took the last modern rock station, Y100, and dumped it in favor of a rap station. Now Philly is the only one of the 10 top markets without a modern rock station. This sucks.

:grr:

2. erm - they don't have a *real* jazz station either!
But, what about 102.9?

6. but what about WJJZ...smooth jazz...
ducks, covers and runs! Temple has real jazz on after 6pm, it's not ideal but it's something

9. You'd better duck, cover and run. George Michael does not
constitute "real jazz" - just ask progmom!

12. You're so right.
But I won't punch anyone over that.

Pick on Ella, on the other hand, and I'm likely to get all up in your face.

7. 102.9 is more classic rock stuff.
Now, my first choice will be

94.1 WYSP

then

93.3 WMMR

then

102.9

then

104.5

I actually like 99.5, too. Don't care for 93.7 (too much Britney Spears type shit interspersed with the decent music).

But I really liked the y100 concerts, DJs, and stuff.

4. They tried that crap in Miami too.
A station that had been playing rock for 30 years was changed to spanish hip hop. Luckily another station took the reigns and put rock on but it was scary for a minute.

11. I've been away from Philly for a long time,
don't tell me that even WMMR 93.3 has gone to the Dark Side?

That was the most progresive station from about 1967 until I left the area in 1980...

Or the fact that Preston & Steve arent on in the AM anymore???
THey are going to MMR but wont be on for like 5 more months because of the non-compete clause in their contract.

20. Damn, it's really hard to say which is worse - modern rock, or rap
At first, I was going to say "Philly is SOOOO lucky they don't have any of that shit modern rock pop crap shit".

But then you said it was replaced with rap.

So I guess now i have to say, "I feel really, really sorry for Philly." At least modern rock is somewhat tolerable and has some amount, however liminal, of value.
