I got a Church Prayer Rug in the mail!! - Lucky Me!!! $$$$$$
I have never received such a bizarre piece of mail in my life.

I piece of paper decorated to look like an oriental rug with a picture of Jesus in the center...with crown of thorns etc...

It tells me if I pray on this special rug...and then mail it back to them...I can be rewarded!

In fact!!! It has a check list of items I can specifically ask for...including ...

A better job
A home to call my own
A new car
A Money Blessing.....

etc...

There is a testimonial letter telling me that the last person who used it got $46,000 dollars!!!! imagine that...God actually will send me money!!!

I am not joking about this at all...

Some organization called Saint Matthew's Church sent it to me based out of Tulsa Oklahoma... I didn't know that God lived in Oklahoma and that he had a mass mailing campaign....

1. I've noticed some fundie churches are using items of other faiths.
The one near my house sells "prayer shawls" which look suspiciously like the Talit I have. Hmmmm...

4. interesting...that is what I thought was funny
cuz I get a prayer rug which means something to Muslims but yet I am one of those Roman Catholics that the fundies claim aren't Christians....hmmmmm

I am going to take it to my friends dinner party tomorrow cuz she and I will get a good laugh about it.

6. Thanks for the info on that!
I am going to call my post office and tell them about this.

I bet a bunch of elderly people in our area will get scammed with this one.

3. Fallwell and Reed et al. The money changers ARE in the temple,
selling REAL Blood for oil and calling it "Salvation".

It's blasphemy; that's what it is.

There is no quid pro quo for doing the right thing, except from the "Buddy Jesus" cartel, just look in the Yellow Pages for advertising with fish signs all over it.

To real conservatives, these behaviors are shocking.

7. I got one of those two weeks ago - question -
Edited on Sat Mar-05-05 03:29 PM by Skip Intro
did it say to stare at the closed eyes of the image of Jesus on the rug, and that they'd magically open?

Mine did, but I couldn't get it to work.

Of course, the donation page was quite clear.

on edit: just saw the link from post two - Jesus' eyes and all - same thing.

12. here is more info about this scam...isn't even a church...SUPRISE!
http://www.kutv.com/gephardt/local_story_318183515.html

"Okay, who is Prayer by Letters?

I found out they go by 3 or 4 names, including St. Mathew's Churches and St. Mathews Publishing. And they are all based here, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

But look there's no church, only this post office with a drop box where you send your money. And from the drop box, all the money goes here, to laywer J.C. Joyce of the Joyce and Pollard Law Office in Tulsa."
