Poll question: Battle Of The Bagels- What's The Best Kind?
Then there's the whole toasted or non-toasted debate. :)

I like sesame seed bagels, after they've cooled and hardened with whipped unsalted butter. I eat bottom half first and then the top half.

Sometimes there's the splurge on cream cheese and lox... but that's not too often.

2. The problem with Everything bagels IMO
Is they are loaded with salt. Ditch the salt and they are fine.

I like onion and poppy. Sun dried tomato is real good.

On some level though, anything but a plain bagel is bogus. Yes I have a purist streak. Oh yeah, toasting is OUT!

5. Toasting is delicate matter
Toasting a fresh bagel is sacrilege. Why tamper with nature's perfection? Day old bagels benefit from a gentle warming, but they burn if toasted too long. All that's really neded is enough heat to warm them all the way through and maybe turn the cut surface a pale golden color. If you can't get lox King Oscar kipper snacks make an adequate substitute.

8. Try steaming!
Bagels are boiled. Real ones, that is. A couple of day old bagel will return to its original delicious semi-sogginess if put in a steamer for a minute or two.

9. I grew up with them toasted
Eating them cold seems hard for me for some reason, even when I had a big appetite when I ran. I've found that they're alright microwaved briefly.

10. I like them all
I picked up an egg bagel today at the Wawa (Wawa's a New Jersey thing). I could eat bagels everyday and not get tired of them.
