After the election, I decided to wear a beret everyday to show my solidarity with the French resistance against fascism. So, I bought a couple, then I saw Spiderman 2, and Kirsten Dunst was wearing a unique hat in it--not your standard beret, but a colorful knitted one. So, I went on the net and downloaded knitting instructions for a beret and began. Well, I've learned a lot since then--and I now have 32 berets--each more colorful and individual than the last.
It's a great hobby. I can knit a plain beret in a night; a tam with finer yarn takes me about a week. And because there is so little yarn in each project, I can buy very, very nice yarn--and knitters know that anyone can look like a knitting genius with good yarn.
Just thought I'd share.
