so here's a tribute to a hot dog place I really miss
http://www.viennabeef.com/There was a place just down the street from where I worked. I would go there occasionally for a Chicago style hot dog. Here's an article about the place (on edit: Italian beef and French fries get a mention too!).
http://www.goshennews.com/news/sections/spotlight/pats_chicago_dogs.htmlSince I now live where none of these restaurants can be found, I've had to improvise. This recreates the Chicago style hot dog as closely as I know how:
INGREDIENTS:
Vienna Beef Hot Dogs
Poppyseed Buns
Mustard
Relish
Fresh chopped onions
Tomato wedges
Kosher pickle spears
Sport peppers
Dash celery salt
PREPARATION:
Heat in water, steam, grill or microwave hot dog. Place the authentic Vienna Beef Hot Dog in a steamed poppyseed bun. Then pile on the toppings in this order:
Yellow Mustard
Bright Green Relish
Fresh Chopped Onions
Two Tomato Wedges
Kosher Pickle Spear
Two Sport Peppers (careful!)
Celery Salt
