My dog ate some Tylenol...

...and apparently it is LETHAL to dogs.He got into my daughter's purse, and consumed about 10 kids' chewables and a lollipop. My vet told me to take him to a veterinary hospital...what an ordeal. They induced vomiting, and have to monitor his blookd for several days. Apparently, it screw up the liver, and also messes with the dog's ability to oxygenate their blood(huh?).
This is gonna cost me over $1,000. Can you believe? Also. we NEVER board him, as he is really shy and nervous (he was a rescue dog, a Sheltie), and I can't imagine how he is coping with the whole thing. Oy!

Same thing happened to a friend of mine, only he had 2 retrievers and since they didn't know which one got into the tylenol, they had to assume they both did.

It was so stressful for him, so I can imagine how you must feel.

Good luck to you and the pup, I'm sure they'll take good care of him and he'll be home soon.

Well, it happens a lot.
I remember one Saturday morning I spent in an emergency vet clinic where 6 different dogs had gotten into something. Some had swallowed solid objects, others ate something poisonous. I can't even remember what my dog ate, but it didn't turn out to be costly or serious. While I was there one of the wayward dogs bit the vet, but they stitched it up and kept seeing patients.

My kitty ate some ibuprofen 2 years ago, and it affected his kidneys. Luckily, we have one of the best vet schools in the country where we reside, and he was revived, and has been healthy ever since. We made sure to get him some Hill's prescription diet for kidneys..there is probably one for liver such as:

Canine l/d® - Dry or Canned Liver disease, Hepatic encephalopathy, Copper storage disease

I have a very soft spot for animals and their humans that are adopted, so I mean it sincerely that I wish you and your dog the best. He will pull through, and there may be times of feeling guilty when it's not your fault. Good luck!

because he has a delicate digestion. I eat cheese a lot for snacks (low carber) and I would give him some...fuhget about it! Made him sick. So now his only human treats (he's not here, so I can say the word) are plain chicken or pretzels (from high carb husband).
Well, at least this gives me a chance to wash his doggie bed!
Thanks for all your good wishes...and I appreciate that no one said they would PRAY for him (LOL)! Anywhere else, this would be the standard response.
