Poll question: Any American DUers have any absinthe?
It's illegal to buy or sell absinthe in America, but it's legal to own it, and it's legal to drink it. So, just out of curiosity, who owns some? Not Absente or anything similar, but the original stuff?

3. A highly concentrated
Alcohol, that has been filtered with wormwood. The wormwood extract is said to have hallucinogenic properties. There are a number of ways to enjoy it. It was made illegal, and is said to have played a part in Van Gogh cutting off his ear. I've heard the experience is akin to taking shot of alcohol and smoking a joint at the same time.

4. It's an alcoholic beverage prepared with a European species of wormwood

Some say that it possesses hallucinogenic or even neurotoxic properties, hence its nickname, La Fee Verte - The Green Fairy. Others say you should just check the alcohol content on the bottle - there's a reason absinthe is diluted with water and sugar before serving.

Absinthe was blamed for a particularly grisly murder in the States around a century ago. All I know is that the killer did drink absinthe - along with at least eight other strong drinks that night. So a lot of folks think absinthe got a bum rap from the government.

Hope this helps!

7. I don't think it's legal in Mexico
It is, however, legal for sale in the Czech Republic and Portugal. Maybe the UK and Germany as well, but I'm not sure.

15. 5 parts per million wormwood.
I have no idea how good or bad that is. (A co-worker bought it here in Saskatchewan).
