Any Michael Franti fans in the Lounge?

I've been a fan of Spearhead for a couple of years now and I saw him at the Telluride Bluegrass Fest last summer. It was the most spiritual concert I've ever been to...

He went to the Middle East last year and walked around Baghdad and Palestine w/ his guitar playing songs to anyone who would listen. I Know I am Not Alone is the documentary he's releasing about it.

Most of his lyrics are anti-war and pro-peace and love. :hippie:

So check out his band Spearhead today! :)

5. actually I started waning after Home
Chocolate Supa Highway really disapointed me, Stay Human was better.

I think I just preferred the early stuff 'coz it's a bit closer to DHH or the Beatnigs. I like my music kinda angry, he's just got a bit too lovey dovey lately - especially with Everyone Deserves Music, which is the only one so far I havn't bothered buying.

6. Yeah but there's some great gems on that disc
Rock the Nation is damn near perfection, and Listener Supported...but yeah DHH and supahiway are a bit more raw and I really haven't cared for his newer stuff

3. I love Franti and Disposable Heroes
I saw him here in Dana Point a couple years back. Stay Human is a masterpiece. But I love the old stuff too...I haven't enjoyed his latest stuff quite as much.

7. I love Franti 90% of the time, and cringe the other 10%
I really hate the capital punishment scenario on Stay Human. It's too contrived, too calculated. It's the left wing version of some freeper nightmare scenario about a gay child molesting terrorist supporter.

Most of all, there are so many REAL scenarios that making up a fake one that hits every point weakens the stance against it, IMO.

And Rock the Nation is spoiled by "Fuck the Constitution".

But 90% of the time I love Michael Franti, and almost everything Franti is on my iPod at all times.

8. I know what you mean...
I'm not sure what he means by "Fuck the constitution" exactly...

But I'm really digging a lot of his newer stuff, esp. on Everyone Deserves Music. Some of his new shows are available to download on archive.org...Here's a good one:

I always like listening to the "Words" track at his concerts, too.
