The oddity of cyber-space.
It's weird (or maybe not so weird), but on DU and elsewhere, I've had experiences of either really clicking with people or really finding them to be quite irritating (most though, just nondescript and somewhere in the middle), yet a few times in meeting people I initially met online (just friendship in my experiences thus far), it's a whole other ballgame.

For example, some people I get along with fine when I've met them, but I don't click with at all online. Other times, it's just nondescript online, but finding I really like them in person. Everyone I've liked a lot online though, I liked more when I met them in person.

Just sort of an observation, but has anyone else experienced that?

1. Some people are more annoying online, some in person
Before going to college, I talked to a lot of my future classmates online. I'm good friends with some of them, and I hate some of them! People represent themselves differently online sometimes.

8. I like to be much more poised in person.
I let sillier sides out here or other sides I'm less into revealing in person. I would never purposely misrepresent myself though. There are some people like that. It's too bad because everyone has some redeeming quality just as they are.

2. I've never met another DU Poster in person
But have had clicks with others that only lasted a few months!

Damned emotions...Just when I feel as if I'm getting to know some one around here...they stop gravitating toward me...

My Opinions...

4. You'll get to meet a sh*tload of us in April.
:hi:

p.s. The one exception to anyone being different is Matcom. Matcom is Matcom. He is the one person I've met who just always is who he is. It's refreshing. :D

13. Anyone who has met us both...
Knows you are much more outgoing and extroverted than me, but in text, it comes across the opposite maybe.
Annoying? Nah! :pals:

12. Yes
If I have known them for a long time and finally meet them, it tends to be stilted for some reason. It seems sometimes it is easier to communicate in text for some and that "click" was text based.

14. I can see that.
Some of us are really good at written communication and likely that enhances things in certain situations perhaps. :)

15. I have the same experience
that with some people, you just hit it off. It is funny how can connect over the net. I think it has something to do how we write. And how the other person interprets what we wrote. If there is a mutual understanding, a friendship can be the outcome.

Does it makes sense what I write? Oh well, we are in the Lounge, it doesn't has to make sense :)
