1. The whole movie is beyond awful.
Nothing really to discuss.

12. Succinct & Accurate
I love the first two. I put GFII at the top of my best movies ever list. But, they REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY shouldn't have made that third one. It's just dreadful.

2. The poor creature cannot act
Winona Ryder was considered for the part. She could have handled the role memorably.

There were some memorable character actors in the smaller parts of GF3, but many of the leads were ghastly choices.

7. No Winona was SIGNED for the part
She got to Italy-stayed in her hotel room for 10 days, and informed FF Copolla that she was nearing a "nervous breakdwn" and couldn't do it.

It doesn't excuse Coppolla from casting his daughter, though...half the young brunettes in Hollywood would've done that part!

Sophia is a MUCH better Director!

5. G1 and G2 both won Oscars if I recall.

G3 WAS awful and Sofia Coppolla couldn't even 'die' properly at the end.

FFC waited too long to make G3 and apparently all the good ideas he may had were forgotten.

6. G3 and the Star Wars prequels have much in common
Be wary when a legendary film director decides to revisit his saga after some two decades. The story may be grandiose, the actors may be of great prominence...but it ain't gonna be pretty.

17. actually, believe it or not, she DID have a few acting roles after that
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001068/

I did notice that she's never acted in her own films.

She's obviously a far better director than she is an actor (I liked "Lost in Translation" and have heard nothing but good things about "Virgin Suicides"), and I guess she knew her acting was that bad that she didn't even give herself a small cameo role in either film.

16. I remember laughing out loud in the theater at Michael's, also.
I liked the story line but the film was insufferable. The only cool part I remember was hearing 'Miracle Man' as background music.

11. I was forced to watch it on a trans-atlantic flight in 1992
Godfather 3 was the inflight movie when I was returning from living in the UK. I was already down because I was coming back here, and I was bored stupid because of the 9-hour return flight.

I watched the film, sans headset, because I heard it was so terrible. Needless to say, it wasn't any better without the sound.

Fortunately they had a good supply of scotch on board, so I got completely pissed instead. :toast:

13. Ha! We were traveling in the same movie release period.
It was playing on our flight to Italy in September 1991.

I hate trying to watch a movie where I can barely hear what's going on. If it looks interesting from what I see I'll rent it later, but that one looked pretty bad.

15. Minus Sofia Coppola, I think Godfather 3 could have been great
The Vatican intrigue lends itself to a great film. The cinematography was quite good, and some of the other acting was impressive as well.

Ms. Coppola DESTROYED the movie singlehandedly.
