Chronic Disease forum mission statement; feel free to citique

or edit as you see fit. Skinner is ready to set up the forum once this is final.

The chronic disease forum is for DUers who are affected either directly or indirectly by chronic ailments, including family, friends, and medical professionals. Our intention is to provide support, non-medical advice, and camaraderie among those who have various health issues but often share the same type of problems regarding care, finances, employment, and other issues.

Edit: even if you aren't interested, could DUers please offer an occasional :kick: thruout the day? Thanks.

10. Sounds like a good idea
One of the difficulties of dealing with any kind of chronic condition is the feeling that you're sort of alone. Your friends and family, though sympathetic, don't really truly understand what it's like and you're hesitant to dwell on it too much with them because you don't want to burden or worry them. It would be nice to have a forum where you could talk to others who know what it's like.

I only wish that I had the money to donate to DU- to help out and post in the groups.

But this is a great thing for the others who do have a Chronic Illness. Talking to others who are in the same boat so to speak and finding out that you are not alone is a good thing.

20. My SIL just was diagnosed and is having an awful time.
I've been an insulin-dependent diabetic since age 7 and am enduring secondary complications.

This forum isn't actually my idea, I just got the ball rolling a bit.

I think it's going to be very valuable.
