Ozric Tentacles on tour (Hawkwind/Pink Floyd fans take note)
I just thought I'd mention that UK psychedelic band Ozric Tentacles kick off their US tour on March 17th. They play in the style of bands such as Hawkwind, Pink Floyd, Gong, etc. and are accompanied by a mindblowing light show (The Solar Fire Light Show) courtesy of the fine people at Strange Trips (www.strange-trips.com) who link to Truthout, Take Back The Media, Vote To Impeach and others.

Here are the dates:
MARCH 17 - BOSTON, MA - MIDDLE EAST
MARCH 18 - BURLINGTON, VT - HIGHER GROUND
MARCH 19 - NYC - BOWERY BALLROOM
MARCH 20 - FALLS CHURCH, VA - STATE THEATRE
MARCH 22 - CHARLOTTE, NC - NEIGHBORHOOD THEATRE
MARCH 23 - RICHMOND, VA - CANAL CLUB
MARCH 24 - BALTIMORE, MD - THE FUNK BOX
MARCH 25 - CLEVELAND, OH - BEACHLAND BALLROOM
MARCH 26 - CHICAGO, IL - THE ABBEY
MARCH 27 - MILWAUKEE, WI - SHANK HALL
* March 29 - Harlow's Night Club - Sacramento, CA
* March 30 - The Independent - San Francisco, CA
* April 1 - Baja Prog Festival - Mexicali - Mexico

* w/o The Solar Fire Lightshow

I've played bass for Nik Turner on his last 2 U.S. tours, recorded with him, and will be recording and touring with Harvey Bainbridge later this year.

6. Space Ritual
The "Space Ritual" lp(s) pretty much defines what Hawkwind is all about for me. My preferences are for the 1970-1975 era but I like much of the later stuff as well. I have special fondness for the 1995-2001 era when Ron Tree was their lead singer, best HW frontman since Robert Calvert. The "Distant Horizons" and "In Your Area" cd's have some supremely punkadelic moments. Attended their 30 year "Hawkestra" reunion show in London a few years back, entire "Space Ritual" lineup was present and I even got to meet Lemmy backstage after the show!!!
