1. Remove the Irish authors from any English literature course...
You've got Shakespeare, Milton (ugh) & a few others....

5. Actually, it's more like...
remove the Irish authors, and you're missing Jonathan Swift, Joyce, Yeats, Shaw, Wilde, Samuel Beckett, Seamus Heaney, Brendan Behan and Oliver Goldsmith, but you're left with Shakespeare, Marlowe, Chaucer, Blake, Byron, Pope, John Webster, the Brontës, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Robert and Elizabeth Barret Browning, Percy and Mary Shelley, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Samuel Johnson...you get the idea.

2. a history of unreadable, dense prose
does not a literary giant make.

plus, I'd have to throw in England, to be fair: Shakespeare, Milton, Browning, Dickens, Chaucer, Austen, Byron...shall I continue?

6. I hope for your sake that you never go to Russia, France or Germany

Actually, the French and Germans might not mind your attitude too much, but the Russians would be enraged at your statement and probably kill you
