Great band. Fantastic to take long drives with. Very smart laddies. Interesting and erudite.

The only BOC I know of is Boards of Canada, and I get the feeling that's not what we're talking about here :)

I avoided almost all TV from the middle 1980s until a few years ago, so I only recently saw the SNL skit with Christopher Walken -- it was from the "Best of Christopher Walken" SNL video -- and laughed myself hoarse. Why? The first time I listened to Don't Fear The Reaper with headphones (circa 1976, back before my hearing deteriorated) I was amazed at the way the cowbell was used to create a sense of inescapability.

"More Cowbell!" is one of those enduring catchphrases, but one that didn't catch on the first time around. It seems to have become common since the release of the Best Of video, along with The Continental (which is based on a real 1950s TV program of the same name with the same style of camera work).

I'm a big BOC fan, and I NEVER heard the cowbell on that song. I guess I had a crappy stereo system. Now whenever I listen to that song, the cowbell is ALL I hear!
