1. I used to think he was so HOT
As a young prepubescent teen, he made me swoon.

7. Me, too...
what a sad end. Can't remember - did he die of an eating disorder (ala Karen Carpenter) or suicide? Can't remember but tie the two issues together, for some odd reason, in his case. Perhaps a suicide - but Karen dies aroumd the same time due to eating disorder so I some how mix the two stories up in my memory?

8. I think he died of a heroin overdose
He was into heavy drugs and drinking. 30 is TOO young.

14. It was myocarditis....
'an inflammation of the heart muscle caused by a viral infection).
Later on the Gibb family heard that Andy had been suffering from heart problems already for a while before he died but he never told anyone about it.'

but who knows how drugs may have weakened his heart.

17. He had some sort of chronic inflammation of the heart...
from years of heavy-duty cocaine use. The heart ailment is what killed him. Supposedly, he'd been off the coke for a while--which was probably facilitated by his bankruptcy.

Very sad.

3. I remember it well.
He was only 30. Now that I'm just 10 days away from turning 39, it seems so young.

15. I just turned 39, too.
Well, we've got one more year of "youth" left. Sigh.

5. Damn, that was a long time ago, but it doesn't seem like it.
I remember the report on his death said that he'd had a cocaine problem and was living in a condo gratis because they wanted him as a celebrity spokesperson.

11. Did he have a heart problem, too?
Just trying to remember.....

He dated Victoria Principal, if I'm not mistaken.

6. Damn. Was that 17 years ago?
My sister, a huge fan, was just devastated. I was pretty bummed myself, mostly because he was so young and he seemed like a fairly nice guy.

9. I heard that Gibb had become despondent after Victoria Principal...
...broke up with him. Speculation was that, cliched though it may sound, Andy Gibb had died of a broken heart.

And before you pooh-pooh that theory, ask yourself this: How can you mend a broken heart?

13. Yeah, at first people were talking suicide
From a cocaine overdose, perhaps. Someone even told me they heard he killed himself by drinking Drano. I don't know where they got that.

Turns out it was just a bum ticker from years of heavy use of blow. Poor guy. He actually had some talent.

19. The drinking Drano part was merely a tragic accident.
How do you think he and his brothers got their damn voices so excrutiatingly high?

Never liked his music, but a tragedy (no pun intended) that he died so young.

20. I saw him in "Pirates of Penzance" in LA, 1981.
At the Dorothea Chandler Pavilion. Pam Dawber and Joane Worley were also in it.
