Fred Phelps Will Be in Downtown Colorado Springs In About An Hour

He and his roving band of homophobes will be picketing outside Palmer High School, where the students are trying to get official school recognition for a gay-straight alliance club.

I'm glad I don't have to go anywhere near there. It may get quite messy. Especially since a lot of the local homophobes have been all over local radio the past few days, actually supporting Phelps and his brood of assholes.

8. They Seem to Have a Certain Degree of Support

Some of the right-wing wackos were phoning to a local talk show the other day (Joseph Michelli's show on KVOR), complaining that people were trying to abridge Fred Phelps "freedom of speech". I called up and said it was hypicritical of those conservatives being worried about Phelps' freedom of speech while they want to silence CU professor Ward Churchill.

Joseph promptly cut me off, as I thought he would.....

no, they were near the High School over in Sand Springs protesting the student's Gay-Straight alliance. I had to go over there and pick up a bass player.

I had seen them on the news, so I knew who it was milling around in the street. I gave the gas a little kick and they all scurried to the curb when they saw my Lincoln heading their direction :evilgrin:
