Being raised in Florida, I had a lot of contact with the Cuban People who escaped immediately after Castro took control. I became friends with many....I'm glad your grandmother will find freedom here but I also understand how she longs for freedom in her native land...

that's really awesome. Good for her. Too bad you're only going to be here a couple of days.

The Calle Ocho block party/festival is this sunday. That's always a blast and the weather has been nearly perfect, although at times a little chilly for miami standards.

So extend your trip so you can really spend time with your family and party on calle ocho. Whereabouts in Miami will you be staying?

I'll PM you my number in case you have time and want to have a beer or something.

23. You know as well as I do that Miami is an intoxicating city

(I don't know about Hialeah)

And I don't know when is the last time you were here, but things are definitely improving around here. All kinds of condos are going up in downtown and it's not so segregated as it used to be. In other words, it's maturing.
