7. No...they aren't morning glories....(they are night bloomers though)
They are known by many names: Datura, jimsomweed, thornapples, Devil's Trumpets.

They are VERY VERY poisonous, but oh so pretty.

I grow them every year.

Here's another variety I grew a couple of years back:

9. Some people call them that.....
Although more often, people call Brugmansia's "Angels Trumpets" and call Daturas "Devils Trumpets".

Daturas point up (like from hell)....

Brugs point down (like from heaven)...Here's one of my brugs.

8. Brugmansia, actually... how LOVELY! I have one in pink in my
backyard.

On hot summer days, when the cool night air hits them, they EXPLODE with fragrance.

Technically they're illegal in the USA, because their sap is an hallucinegenic. They're known as the dream plant, because they say if you put the leaves under your pillow, you'll have fantastic dreams.

They're native to Mexico, and also known as Datura.

11. Close....Daturas are slightly different species from brugs.
They are the same family, but Brugs are a woody perrenial whereas daturas as a hardy annual.

They both carry similar chemicals (which can be deadly) and the daturas don't have the rich fragrance of a brug.

Brugs are soooooo much more beautiful than daturas, but very hard to keep in Wa. State.
