Johnny Cash is the King Of Rock And Roll.
Get over it. Move on for the good of the country.

:smoke:

PS: Earl Scruggs is God. John Lennon died for your sins.

13. No good hardcore since the late 80s?!
Dude...

At the Drive-in, Alexisonfire, Cursive, Glassjaw, Refused.

There is a lot of good music out there, especially if you know where to look.

Also: The Mars Volta = the future of rock and roll.

3. Well, it sure as hell isn't Elvis.
I asked the question on another thread - why do people think Elvis is the King of Rock? He's not played on rock stations, he's played on country stations.

All his music was was glorified country music. It's good, yes, but it ain't rock. He ain't the King of Rock.

People in the rock world don't care about Elvis. The people with shrines to Elvis in their homes? The ones who go to Graceland? Those are all country western people.

I'd much rather give that title to Cash.

Maybe that's what's wrong with the world of rock. Maybe that explains why it's dead.

Not to get into too much a dispute, it's just not worth it. I got nothing against Johnny Cash, the man was brilliant. But Elvis had one thing going for him that Johnny simply didn't:

Sex.

Elvis's music was sexy. Elvis was sexy.

Why do you think they called it "rock & roll" in the first place?

12. Oh, don't say that. Imus is such an asshole.
But I do watch him. I don't want to miss when he implodes. I don't know how he and Bernard get away with what they do. As long as they say they didn't really mean it, or are just kidding, they can sexually harass anyone they choose.

14. Long Live Rock!

Down at the Astoria the scene was changing,
Bingo and rock were pushing out X-rating,
We were the first band to vomit in the bar,
And find the distance to the stage too far,
Meanwhile it's getting late at ten o'clock,
Rock is dead they say,
Long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

People walk in sideways pretending that they're leaving,
We put on our makeup and work out all the lead-ins,
Jack is in the alley selling tickets made in Hong Kong,
Promoter's in the pay box wondering where the band's gone,
Back in the pub the governor stops the clock,
Rock is dead, they say,
Long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

Landslide, rocks are falling,
Falling down 'round our very heads,
We tried but you were yawning,
Look again, rock is dead, rock is dead, rock is dead.

The place is really jumping to the high-watt amps,
'Til a 20-inch cymbal fell and cut the lamps,
In the blackout they dance right into the aisle,
And as the doors fly open even the promoter smiles,
Someone takes his pants off and the rafters knock,
Rock is dead, they say,
Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock.

Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock,
Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive.
