What do people here think of Donnie Darko?
I saw it last week, and I was pretty impressed. I am a Jake Gyllenhaal fan, but hadn't seen it. On a whim I put it in my Netflix queue and was pleasantly surprised. Opinions?

1. I liked it. that bunny creeped me out though.
the blockbuster version is censored at the end I think. I know I watched it twice and the second time I rented from blockbuster and they "blacked out" the end.

7. I forget exactly (as I often do when time passes)
this is embarrassing but I don't remember from the first time I viewed the movie what it was EXACTLY they didnt show in the censored version. I just remember the second time the screen going black and the gary jule version of Mad World(tears for fears) playing.

2. AWESOME.....
The best scene was when, after seeing how uptight and ultra "good" the surbuban moms are, you see the dance routine the girls have been working on. So right on target.

6. That gym teacher... Mrs Farmer?
She was so totally David Koresh WACO. CREEPY!

I loved the music, though. I was the older sister's age in 1988, and I was flashing back. It was awesome.

9. Great Movie -- Very Interesting
Quirky with air of mystery, doesn't try to overexplain everything. Worth seeing more than once.

10. A terrific movie
I especially liked the musical sequence near the end. I haven't seen the director's cut yet, though.

11. It floored me the first time I saw it
At the end, I just sat there with my mouth open but I couldn't say anything. I just looked over at my husband like..."uh...wha...buuuuh..." :-) It just had such a profound effect on me. I think the fact that I knew nothing about the movie beforehand, and had never seen Jake Gyllenhaal before had something to do with the experience I had. I don't know if it would have been the same had the movie been all hyped up to me, and had I been familiar with Gylenhaal, so I'm glad I saw it without any prejudice.

It's one of my favorite movies of all time, and every time I watch it, I seem to discover something new. I'm looking forward to seeing the director's cut...it's on my wish list!
