Poll question: Which city produces better country music?
The heart of country used to be Nashville, but the Grand ole Opry moved out the suburbs and all that town produces is corporate pop. Which of these cities is the better place to hear real country music?

3. Wow. Looks pretty cool.
I've never heard of it.
Just having Willie Nelson and Pat Green makes Austin kick ass.

11. They still have a festival in Rosine every year.
Some of Bill's old band are still around and playing as well as (I think) his brother and a number of others. Allison Krauss, Ricky Shelton and the like even show up for it from time to time.

16. Either plan to camp or
stay in a motel 20+ miles away. There are no motels in Rosine that I'm aware of unless they've added one in the last couple of months.

5. Trashville by Hank Williams III
Trashville
(from the album "Lovesick, Broke & Driftin")

Now Playin’ country music
it ain’t like it used to be
I’m so tired of this new stuff
they’re tryin’ to get me to sing
That ain’t no country music to me

Well, you can only take so much
of putting people down
when you got the best,
that’s tryin’ to beat your back doors down

Well, I used to think that country
was out of Nashville Tennessee
but all I see in Nashville,
is a bunch of backstabbers takin’ you and me
They don’t care about the music ya see

Well, I used to think that country
was out of Nashville, Tennessee
I’d rather take my things and
go back to Texas ya see

Now, I would pack up
and I’d leave this dirty town
but they’ve done taken me for so much
that I can’t get out now
Maybe one day but not right now

Well, I used to think that country
was out of Nashville, Tennessee
I don’t think that country's here
'cause they killed it ya see

Well, I used to think that country
was out of Nashville, Tennessee
I’d rather take my things and
go back to Texas ya see

6. I voted for Austin but ...
...a good case can be made for Bakersfield, California (Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Wynn Stewart and more) and Lubbock, Texas (Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock et al.).

SXSW's music fest doesn't start until Wednesday night, by the way.

8. nice catch
got ahead of myself there.

Good point on those 2 towns BTW, historically good. But now the up-and-coming scene is Austin.

Next year I'm hitting SXSW for sure
