The Guy The Yankees Beat Up Was A Special Ed Teacher
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 10:26 PM by Magic Rat
In the bullpen Saturday.

Geez, yet another reason to hate the Yankees.

on edit - I just heard this on my local news. I hadn't read about it before, I thought the guy just worked for the Red Sox.

1. We can write a book together
and get a Red Sox fan too, btw I am not a Red Sox fan actually I wear the avatar as an American League fan and Yankee hater and I sympathize with Boston, my team is Baltimore.

11. I should hold a grudge against the Red Sox
for knocking out my team, the A's, but between hoping for a all underdog Cubs-Red Sox 100th anniversary World Series, and wanting to root for my man Kerry's team, and gee who but a New Yorker would want the Yankees to win, it's a no-brainer: go Boston!

5. The Yankee players are the ones that should have just let it go...
...they should know better than that, and so should you.

4. if he is a speccial ed teacher he can't be an asshole?
I don't think anyone should be beat up, but being a special ed teacher doesn't mean you can't be an asshole or pick a fight.

27. or get jumped by an asshole like Nelson
Cheswick I saw it happen. If Nelson were a pro he would have walked away. The Teacher never threw at Nelson until he was on the defensive. His crime, waving a towel in the Yankee bullpen. Bad Idea but it wont justify a criminal assault.

I hope you understand Jeff Nelson is an asshole and the truth is going to come out in the wash on this one.

I respect the NY Yankees and their legion of great fans. This doesnt dampen that one bit. Jeff nelson is a big league asshole.

Thats all.

6. So?
Look, I've worked and played with plenty of special-ed teachers, social workers, nurses, doctors, and other caretaker professions during my life. They are prone to plenty of the vices that everyone else is prone to, including violence.

I'm not saying it was the guy who started it. I don't know. But his profession doesn't mean anything.

8. I'll let that go since it came from one of Satan's minions
We don't know what happened yet--it's a he said/she said situation right now.

And yes, players should be held to a higher standard, even if the guy did taunt them.

14. Umm.
The guy offered a nasty generalization about Red Sox fans, so you reply with a nasty generalization about Yankee fans?

Dude, take the higher ground. You're just going down to his level.

10. "As All Red SUX fans do": Here we go again
Edited on Mon Oct-13-03 10:36 PM by RationalRose
Blaming a whole legion AND region of fans for the actions of a few. This is REALLY getting tiresome. :eyes:

The only reason Nelson and Garcia weren't issued summonses today was because state offices were closed for Columbus Day. Obviously, you didn't see the police report.

23. It was Unprofessional for a Player to Attack an Employee
If it's between the teams, that's one thing. But to attack an employee or fan is inexcusable.

But the A's are the only team other than the Yankees to win 3 world series in a row (1972-74).

We hold our heads high.

It's a shame Mulder got injured in August-I really think you guys had a chance this year. Do you think they'll let Tejada go?

24. Yes I do
They can't afford him, and Billy Beane does not like to give guys long-term contracts, which is want Tejada wants. I'ts more important to me that they keep Zito, Hudson and Chavez who are up after 2004.
