If a 'Serious' Drinker Stops Drinking.....
Do they loose that 'Gin Flush' Look they always seem to have?

(Inquiring minds need to know)

My opinion is yes

if its caused by being of native american or asian descent - then it'll disappear immediately. If there are broken vessels due to years of heavy drinking, then it may take years.

edit for spelling errors.

No - it's just that I took a stupid (hopefully temporary) p/t job at a liquor store, and I noticed how many (most) of the customers have that 'gin flush' look - just wondered if it ever goes away. (As you can see, I have plenty of time to 'muse' at my new 'job')

And besides, I always have to breathe into a tube before I can start my computer ;-)

2. If it's related to
high blood pressure, then yes. The results are pretty quick.

If it's related to capillary damage, then no. They're pretty much stuck with it for at least a year, and possibly permanently.

4. Don't know, but......
IIRC there was a study that showed that when really serious (alcoholic?) drinkers just stop drinking altogether, it can lead to serious brain problems.

Something to do with the body expecting certain chemicals every day, and when they stop suddenly all hell breaks loose. I believe that there was permanent damage to short term memory among alcoholics who just went cold turkey...they needed to be weaned off the booze gradually.

Not that I'm insinuating that you're an alcoholic, but your question had me worried a little.

:-)

10. nope
once you have the rummy "tan" it's yours for life. It takes a lot of abuse to get it and it's only one form of damage that can be permanent.

The WC Fields nose doesn't go away, either.
