I started running again a few years ago and decided to do a marathon this spring. Today was very tough; it's the farthest I've ever ran at one time. 3 of my friends are running the marathon with me, so I've got a good support group. Just wondering if there are any other DUers who run marathons.

1. I ran one a few years ago.
Rocket City in Huntsville, Alabama. I went there because it was at the right time of year. Didn't know a soul when I went but met lots of great people. I have run halfs since then but don't want to put all the time in to training for a marathon again. I might change my mind though. I know how much you've invested in training. The hay's in the barn. Congrats!!

The furthest I've ever run was 4 miles, and that was years ago. That's awesome that you are working toward that, and have a group of people with you. How'd you feel after your run today? Oh, and good luck!

6. I feel pretty good tonight....
...This afternoon, I was hurting. Took some Tylenol and got a back rub from my girlfriend(that helped a lot) Thanks for your kind words. I'm so glad I started running again. 2 years ago I was up to 228 pounds; today I'm down to 190.

I'm looking into doing a local half-marathon in the fall. I don't think I'm up to a whole marathon yet.

When I stared running again 2 years ago, I could only run a half a mile, then I had to walk. I've kept at it and built up my endurance.

11. Race rules require the General to put a chunk of red kryptonite
in his shorts to prevent this kind of thing. :P

12. My son is preparing now for the Chicago marathon. Its around the
22 mile you start hallucinating. So if you see spiders climbing up your leg, just shake them off..
