Clarification of something

Everyone,

Earlier today I posted that I was bidding D.U. adios. Within minutes I had received email from someone I THOUGHT was a friend (and had given my email address to) telling me that they always knew I was a "freeper" & that I should be ashamed of myself. The letter was a vitriolic spew. Within an hour I had to suspend that email address.

I came back here to post a response to that (without naming said individual, I know that isn't right) but found that other people were in the thread basically accusing me of being a "freeper" & wondering what name I would return with!

Another poster said they agreed with my "anger" toward Skinner.... that was completely blown out of proportion. I really thought I had made clear in my post that I wasn't leaving D.U. with a burr up my bum & waving an angry flag. I guess I wasn't clear enough.

Naturally in the first few minutes of leaving I second guessed the decision- but have come to the conclusion since then that I did make the right choice. I find myself uncomfortable with how vulnerable a person can be to ridicule & petty attacks in a public forum. ANY public forum, NOT just D.U. (& no, I am not referring to the GD portion of this AM's activities-- just so I'm clear).

Don't turn this post into something it isn't- flame bait. And don't wonder if I was a freeper- I am not & I was not. (& will never be)

What I said in my original post is true- I wish all of you nothing but the best. This ISN'T me leaving flipping everyone the bird. I'm not that girl. This is me leaving you all in peace..... sooooo please, no more psycho email or IM's. Seriously.

I'll leave the door open to a return- possibly in 2006 or 2008.. hopefully to a calmer, more secure time in the world!

who overstated your "anger" toward Skinner. I didn't mean that. But you said that someone had said nasty things to you and you weren't able to respond because the moderators had locked the thread. I was actually trying to be sympathetic, but apparantly I missed your point. Sorry.

If you feel you have to go, then you have to go.

I wish you well, Jenna, in all that you do. And when you feel that it's time to come back, we'll welcome you. All in all, we are, for the most part, pretty nice guys. Friendly, cuddly, and fun to hang out with.

I'm sorry your experience here wasn't so great. But when you feel like giving us another chance, please do so. Until then I wish you the greatest happiness.

Take a couple weeks off or whatever, but I've really appreciated having you around the lounge. You've kept things interesting and helped me get through some hella boring days at work.

I've almost ditched on DU a few times myself, but I always head back, so don't shut any doors, and remember you're welcome here, and it really has been nice having you around.

It would make a great performance art piece; see how many times you elicit the obligatory "don't let the door hit you ..." or "just leave, attention hound" responses.
