What do you think of your first name?
Mine is Jeremy.

I sometimes like it, it's kinda a dignified name. It's common, but not too much eh.

However, it sounds kinda weak and not very creative.

Dammit, sometimes I wish I was named Charlie...that's a great name.

If I ever have kids... they'll be named names like Charlie.

And if the Mom doesn't like she can sit on a tack!

12. Depends
zhean-vee-ev is the French way to pronounce it, Jen-ah-veeve is more the English/American way.
I personally don't care, but it always makes me smile when one of my professors actually uses the French pronunciation.

14. I like my name
The only downside is that it can be pronounced different ways. You know when I'm somewhere and they're calling me, and they say it differently than I pronounce it, it's not a big deal. But the guy at work who keeps saying it wrong bothers me. I've told him how to say it, it's not weird or unheard of either, he just insists that he likes it the other way, so I just ignore him now when he calls my name.

I also like the name Charlie, it's my brother's name.

17. Which first name? I have two of them!
My formal, legal name is Margaret; I don't care much for it, mostly because my parents used it when they were mad at me. All my doctors use it and now it's fine...

My normal first name is Peggy, and I like it a lot. Big surprise there! It's a friendly, approachable name. Down to earth. I've always had low self-esteem, so when my friends call me by my name, I feel good, like I matter, or some such...

22. Well, I Chose My Own Name....
Edited on Mon Mar-14-05 01:17 AM by mermaid
Being that I am a transsexual...my original birth name is no longer what I go by...and is no longer even my legal name. I had that changed a long time ago. So I picked my own name.

At the time, my mother did not accept me...as she now does.

So I asked her what she would have named me. She told me she would have named me Renee. And I offered to change my name, again, to Renee, for her...but she said it was okay, I didn't need to go through all that again...because changing your name is one hell of a complicated process!

So I am stuck with Angela.

I named myself after a girl I admired from afar in high school. She was everything I wanted to be at that time. She was popular, smart, funny, pretty...in short, she was everything I wasn't...and so despeartely wanted to be.

I did get a chance, at my 10 year high school reunion, to tell her I'd picked my name after her...and why.

P.S. And, just by the way...like most Angelas...I freaking HATE being called "Angie." "Ang" is fin...but I hate "Angie." It just reminds me of that freaking song....blech!!

Then I liked it, for the same reason.

Then, about ten years ago, it became a trendy name for newborns, so I'm sick of it again.

And everytime i'm in a mall or somewhere, I hear angry moms chasing after their bratty kids by my name, and it freaks me out.

Hint: Cletus and Brandine have a child with my name...

72. My name wasn't very popular when I received it
But it has been right at the top of popularity lists here in England for a few years - obviously people have realised how wonderful I am and are naming their sprogs after me.

I like it, and there have been a fair few good chaps with it through history; the only problem is that it is frequently abbreviated. I have an irrational fear and hatred of monosyllabic names, and people who have never met me bestow one upon me, it makes we want to kill them in the most slow and painful manner possible.

I think that Jeremy is a splendid name, b.t.w., I've known a couple of them and they've all been perfectly decent and fine chaps.

74. Named for a blonde bombshell--and for my aunt Bev (but my name isn't Bev)
Figure THAT out, early morning crowd!

75. I like the name Terry now.
I didn't when I was a kid. I was sort of resentful as to why I wasn't named John or Steve or Jim or Mike or Mark. A "normal" boys name.

But I like Terry (NOT Terrence) very much now. I've sort of grown into my name, I guess.

76. Mine is Laura. I'm hating it about right now...but that'll change in 2008.

77. Hated Barbara when I was little but love it now
I got really sick of the barbwire jokes as a kid. But I've grown over time to love my name. Especially when people pronounce it correctly - 3 syllables, not 2.

78. Love my first name.
It's unique and not a lot of people had it when I was growing up. Now, it's much more popular. My last name... well.. we'll just say it's the same as a former Repub. president.
