Johnny Damon Says "NO" To Queer Eye Cutting His Hair
<snip>

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Boston Red Sox star Johnny Damon nixed cutting his famous long locks during taping for an appearance on the Bravo cable show "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy."

A contract for his book being issued in April requires him to keep his hair long.

The show's five gay makeover artists are taking on five members of the Sox for an upcoming episode. Damon, Kevin Millar, Doug Mirabelli, Tim Wakefield and Jason Varitek are taking part after their wives pitched the idea, the show's executive producer said.

Taping began this week while the Red Sox go through spring training in Florida.

And it turns out the Sox may even have helped the Fab Five. Fashion adviser Carson Kressley said, "They're teaching us how to spit."

1. This headline had me worried--after Damon's butt-kiss of Bush, I was
worried he might be a raving homophobe as well as a ringer. I'm soooooooooooooooooooooooo disappointed in him.

4. I figured Johnny might be the only white non-freeper on the team...
...seemed like a cool guy until I found this out. Anyway, can't hate the sox--the sox are bigger than their player--they're New England! Besides, if you're gonna not like any teams or sports because they tend to be Repukes, you ain'g gonna like many sports at all!

If you look to pro athletes for leadership and guidance in politics, you need to re-evaluate your view of things. These gomers fill a role, nothing more.

9. Don't know anything about this Johnny Damon fellow...
Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 10:06 AM by skypilot
...but I say good for him for not letting those guys cut his hair. I don't know why so many gay men seem to have an aversion to long hair on men. Every episode of "Queer Eye" I've ever seen where the guy had long hair they ended up having it lopped off--and it wasn't always an improvement. I'd love to see more gay men embrace long hair.

10. I think it's more that straight women have an aversion to long hair....
...the audience for that show is largely female, and the guys who are getting the make-over are doing it usually for some woman.

But I will say that I think Johnny could use a trim--doesn't look good on him.

11. I love to play with hair
So not necessarily long long, but long enough for me to run my fingers through is ideal for me.

But it has to be kept clean!!!!! Nothing more grotesque than greasy hair.

Men not so much. I've gone into gay bars with my long hair and have had the men assume that I was straight.
