20. Hey, don't diss snakes
You like rodents better? In place where they have those hideous rattler roundups, they end up with more disease because they killed the rodent predators.

Snakes are gorgeous, shy, beneficial creatures. I have two pet corn snakes, and you couldn't meet a nicer animal. They're called corn snakes because they used to be found in corn cribs where they went to hunt the vermin that eat the corn.

29. :) I like to be scary...
Actually the 1984 and Animal Farm stuff I have memorized. I try to read both at least once a year.

I also have a lot of segments of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings memorized too.

I have kinda a weird memory that way. I also listen to a lot of audio-books (long commute) so I can expose myself things repeatedly, and I like the language of well written stuff.

:) Anyway, I'll continue to taunt you with 1984 stuff for a while.

Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 07:47 PM by wryter2000
If you have a dog or cat, it would probably just scare the snake. Cats and snakes really don't mix. I've heard of cats scratching through the cage screen, and the next thing, you have a dead snake. Or if you're lucky, the snake just escapes.

Didja know Mic G. has reunited the original horn section for an album called "Ear Candy"? Pictures available at http://www.micgillette.com/earcandy.php

42. Spiders and snakes.
I remember when Mary Lou said she wanted to walk me home from school
Well I said yes I do
She said I don't have to go right home
And I would kinda like to be alone some if you would
I said me too
And so we took a stroll and wound up down by the swimming hole
And she said do what you want to do
Got silly and found a frog in the water by the hollow log
And I shook it at her and I said this frog's for you, she said

I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I wanna be loved by you
I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I wanna be loved by you

Well I took out that girl from time to time, I called her up when I got a dime
I said hello baby, she said ain't you cool
Said do you remember when, and would you like to get together again
She said I'll see you after school
I was so shy and so for awhile most of my love was touch and smile
So she said come on over here, I was nervous I guess
Still looking for something to slip down her dress
And she said let's make it perfectly clear

I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I wanna be loved by you
I don't like spiders and snakes
And that ain't what it takes to love me
Like I wanna be loved by you

49. Wasps definitely...
... I have a mobile home in the country I visit some weekends. The yellow jackets and dirt dobbers just love it. They climb though tiny cracks in the fascia joints and build nests in there.

This last weekend was very warm, so gazillions of wasps hatched out. They buzz all around and are generally a nuisance. I was drifing off to sleep Fri night, when I heard a buzz in my ear. I jumped up and the little #$%#$% stung me on the leg. Have I mentioned I hate these damn things?

I have gone at them with a flyswatter before and killed about 100. But this time there were toooooo many, so I got some spray cans.

I got up early while it was cold. They really can't move much when it's below about 45 degrees. I sprayed into every crack I could find.

I'm sure I didn't all of them, but I'm nothing if not persistent :) I'll get 'em.

I am not nice to mice
I have little use for rodents and, I'm sorry to say, because of the way they invade my territory, less and less use for cats.

Slugs are getting on my list as well if they don't watch it.

and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

Edited on Wed Mar-16-05 09:48 PM by Beware the Beast Man
Growing up, we had bats fly in our house all the time during the summer. They're just a nuisance. They did wonders for the garden, though, since they ate all the bugs and their guano makes a killer fertilizer.
