and I still would hate them even if he wasnt :puke: Sean Hannity. I and the other people who have Irish blood arent ashamed of being Irish because of Hannity.

4. Don't blame him on Yankee fans...
we're already carrying enough collective guilt from having Steinbrenner as an owner. I wonder how much George has contributed to Dubya's campaign?

It's was Dubya's bonehead idea that the American League teams should contribute to the expansion draft that preceeded the creation of the Rockies and Marlins (apparently, only the National League teams were originally going to supply those teams with players, and split the franchise fees). Dubya, always the short-sided moron, wanted a piece of that action. The Yankees lost the contracts of Carl Everett and Brad Ausmus in that draft. Of course, Dubya would later trade Sammy Sosa for an aging Harold Baines - foreshadowing his transformation of the Clinton-Gore surpluses to our current humongous deficit.

5. The old days
We lost Charlie Hayes too, if I remember. Sosa actually left the Rangers in 1989, long before (1993) the Rockies and Marlins.

I don't have any guilt about Steinbrenner, he's just the owner. And besides, he's given us a lot of great players over the years.

9. even though he made illegal contributions
to Nixon's 1972 campaign? The Yankees are the GOP right-wing of baseball - always have been, always will be. The inflated payroll, buying the Series as often as possible, reeks of the same sense of privilege and entitlement found among the elite of the Republican party.

Baseball needs the same caps and revenue sharing found in the NFL.

10. I don't think so
An NBA cap, maybe. The NFL cap produces garbage masquerading as football. As for revenue sharing, let small market owners richer than Steinbrenner, like David Glass and Carl Poulad, buy a share of Steinbrenner's TV revenue. I may be a Democrat, but I'm not a commie.

12. "steinbrenner is insane"
He bought the team for ten million. built it back up to where it is. But he is nuts. so what. Anyone remember the late 70's to 95? Not a fun time to be a fan of the Yanks. The Twins going as far as they did shows that money is not the only thing. Same as th Angels last year, owned by Disney. If they don't want to spend, they don't have to. The fact is the Yankees make money, and they make money for every team they play on the road.
