8. Work shit

I'm in HR and I'm used to taking a certain amount of abuse, but today is pretty ridiculous. Nothing unusual is going on, but for a variety of reasons, I've taken a lot of very angry calls and visits today. I'd like to make an early day of it, but we're so swamped right now that my boss just asked me to stick around 'til 7 tonight. She's a good boss who gets in before me and leaves after me, and she'll probably pay for dinner out of her own pocket, but it still sucks.

Phoneman resigned a few weeks ago (not related to "the incident", just because he got a better offer) and part of the work that's snowing me under is interviewing people for his replacement. There's a lot of very competent people out there who are desperate for work.
