They Need To Take McGwire's Home Run Record Away
If it's proven in the future that McGwire used enhancement drugs within my mind it's an empty record because he had MAJOR advantages over the guys who set the records he broke. His Record should be stripped and drooped out of the record books.

1. To ask again here
did he not already admit he used something (I don't remember what) that was a steroid type thing but wasn't "banned" by baseball at the time?

Is there something else he supposedly did?

I really do want to know...

3. Right if baseball didn't ban it what is the problem?
Was it illegal? Was it illegal in EVERY PLACE he played*?

BTW- Athletes generally have to file taxes in each state they play in and their accountant has to determine how much they made in each state.

11. the use of steroids without a prescription is a federal offense
so yes, it may have been legal in the odd Japan exhibition game, but it's certainly illegal anywere MLB played official games during his career.

5. It's likely they were more than just cans of Red Bull
He most likely took illegal Steroids.

7. Andro was NOT banned by baseball or by law at the time
It was only banned last year.

24. Of course not.
Because the MLB has a bogus testing protocol, and bends over backwards to protect its "stars."

Anyone who thinks McGwire (or Bonds or -insert name here- ) wasn't using steroids is probably also in the market for cheap oceanfront property.

2. I agree, but they won't do it.
he's as much of a fraud as the rest of them and even worse for pretending it was just Andro if that wasn't true. Fuck him and the rest of the cheaters.

4. I'm afraid . . .
. . . that Barry Bonds has already taken McGwire's homerun record away.

8. He has no record. Bonds, another cheater, broke it.
I say that Bond, Canseco, Caminiti, Sosa, Palmeiro, I-Rod Giambi...should have there HR and RBI #'s docked by 15% during the years in question or their usage.

12. What makes you suspicous of Palmeiro?
Edited on Thu Mar-17-05 04:23 PM by JohnKleeb
I dont believe he has used steroids, maybe I am not good at evidence but Palmeiro has for one has had the same body through out his career and he hasnt had gigantic numbers, I dont think hes ever hit 50 homeruns in a season. I do agree with your idea though. Another thing about Palmeiro is that hes stayed healthy. I dunno, I just dont see Palmeiro as one who uses steroids.

14. Canseco mentioned Raffa taking injections with him in Texas.
And here's another guy who was in th 15-24 HR range for 8 years or so then suddeny gets buff and hits 500+. A lot like Bonds.

15. I thought he was always in the 6'0 190 range
That is true though, he was in that range early in his career.

26. Yeah well I see your suspicions now
This is kind of disillusioning for us who grew watching these guys though I must say. I know he and Will Clark, former SF Giants First Basemen played college ball together.

13. BTW-Bonds suddenly has chronic injuries (sound familiar?)
He is having knee surgery very soon (today?). The year after his 70 HR season McGwire suddenly had crappy little injuries (ankle, thigh, wrist, whatever) and starting having to miss a lot of games. The year after that it got worse.

A sure fire sign of a post steroid crash.

Another thing about this that I don't understand-why is anyone surprised? SI had an article LAST SUMMER about Giambi so over doing 'roids in the minors that he has to get testasterone shots weekly to ...uh...perform ;-) .

17. Last year Giambi, under suspicion, came to camp 40 lbs lighter
and a smaller head. Went on to have an injury plagued season batting .208 and belting 13 HRs.
Do the math.

Thanks to trout farms, the record for largest trout caught gets broken regularly
