8. Didn't David Johansen do a song
called Soweto Woman, only he misspelled it "Swaheto"?

... you didn't say it had to be an American subdivision...

10. I thought Pleasant Valley was supposed to be a whole town too
but it's the right concept.

12. I'm not a Billy Joel fan...
But I teach landscape history. In a documentary about the first postwar tract housing development, Levittown, NY, Joel reveals that the song "Allentown" was supposed to be about Levittown, but he couldn't think of anything interesting to write.

"Muswell Hillbillies" by the Kinks is a whole album about a London suburb, but I don't know if that's what you mean by a subdivision. (Maybe a better example is "Shangri-La" on "Arthur".)

"Conform or Be Cast Out" by Rush is an obvious one.

"Little Pink Houses" by John Cougar.

If you count East Long Beach as a subdivision Snoop Dogg's entire opus counts. Which brings up the vast list of hip hop tunes about housing projects.

14. "Conform Or Be Cast Out" == "Subdivisions" by Rush
That line is from the song "Subdivisions", actually. :)

16. The only reason I remember it....
is because "Signals" was one of the first vinyl LPs I bought as a wee lad, when it first came out in 1982. Not a bad record either,.... :)
