Channel 5 in St Louis is doing a report on the Army missing its recruiting goals. They interviewed a white kid (there was an article in the Post Dispatch this past weekend about black kids not joining up due to their opposition to the carnage in Iraq) who spoke highly of the military.
You think they could interview a kid who thought about, but did not join, the military. How about some balance?
Here is the e mail I just sent to Channel 5's "news" department
I just watched your "report" on the military not meeting its recruitment goals due to the war on Iraq. If the reporter was not already known to me as a channel 5 reporter I would have sworn that it was a video news release from the US Army and the Bush administration. It had the appearance of government propaganda. Would it have been so difficult to interview a kid who thought about, but did not enlist into the military. I am sure they are out there since the Post Dispatch had an article about the decrease in the number of blacks and women joining the military since the war on Iraq. Here is a link to the story that appeared in the Post Dispatch

Papers and news outlets in other countries tend to ask more in depth questions of our government.
