My dog sleeps with his food
He's home alone all day and has access to large milkbones. He's never been an overeater, he's kind of a skinny guy under all that fur.

Anyway, I came home tonight and there were about five uneaten large milkbones in his doggy bed. Sleeping with food, whatever comforts him...

2. Many dogs do that. It seems to be a survival instinct. They save them

in case of the unlikely event that you do not return. My dogs hardly ever ate when I was not at home, no matter how much food or treats I left out for them. They might drink some of the water I left out for them, but rarely, if ever ate any of the food that was out.

EDIT: I am out of work right now, so I am home almost all the time. Did not mean to imply that I do noth ave dogs any more.

3. My dogs would never let a Milkbone sit around uneaten
I mostly feed carrots for snacks now. They like them better, and they're virtually calorie free! My little pup gnaws on them like a rawhide bone. The coolness helps with teething.

stuff his big stuff-a-ball with.
He once actually used his big nose to open the refrigerator, and grabbed the bag of carrots and took it to his bed and ate the whole bag. Since he is usually my shadow, I noticed that he was MIA and wondered where he was. Caught in flagrante derelicto (sp?)...plastic bag and all, with carrot shreds still dripping from his mouth. I thought he had pulled it out of the garbage or something. I could not believe it when I walked into the kitchen and saw the fridge door wide open!!! He knew what he wanted and went for it. Left everything else alone and went straight for the carrots.

15. My moms dog loves them too
I think some of that might be the texture. My dog gets instant diarreah from any kind of veggies though.

7. My dogs take huge mouthfuls of food and go off to a corner
and spit the food out and eat it piece by piece.

They also don't eat when we're gone and then empty their food bowl when we walk in the door (like we've starved them all day or something).

You dog's just dreaming of the milkybone way!!
