Anyone ever notice when arguing with a freeper...
... they tend to project their intellectual deficiencies on you and then to prove that they are knowledgeable they try to name EVERYTHING that they know about a subject.

For example here is a post from a disruptor from this afternoon:
"Oh, I get it now...You don't think that the State of Georgia or Delaware or Texas is comparable to the States of France or Luxembourg or Turkey. WOW, you should really study history and the constitution, the Federalist Papers and the Anti-Federalist Papers, and the Articles of Confederation, and the 1st and 2nd Continental Congresses, and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America and of the Confederate States of America. If you do you will learn that your idea that the USA is a country is wrong. We are a Union. Actually, we are a democratic republic, but now I am just speaking over you."

Now I have a history minor, and I can tell you that for the most part three of those don't even apply. So why the hell do they think that mindless blather makes them sound intelligent?

1. To give you a lot to study...
...thus stalling the argument. It's a bunch of hoops for you to jump through.

2. freepers don't actually THINK. They merely repeat crap instead of forming
actual opinions.

They're fucking morons.

Yeah, I kinda guess that...
... after this guy also claimed that the US has a good environmental record, corporations do not exploit third world workers, empire is a good thing, and oil is a justifiable reason to go to war. He was a gem.

My fellow DUers and I really reamed his ass though.

3. When they say "speaking over you" they don't mean intellectually...
O'Lielly, Hannity, Rush, all of those guys yell pseudo-intellectual nonsense over any dissenter, the problem is that this moron doesn't realize it only works in personal conversation NOT over e-mail.

4. You make the cardinal error of assuming that Freepers THINK.
They don't have the capacity for independent thought--they just parrot back bullshit that's fed to them by the MSM (which they denounce as "Marxist Red").

...But you're right about their rationale--they tend to assume that because they're morons, everyone else is a moron too.

5. When they do that.....
All you have to do is have them point out exactly what they are talking about, make them be specific. That will often kill it. You can also use it against them by playing dumb, stringing them along till the end when you drop the hammer of reason on their head. Then they just get all huffy and quote some crap like it's gods will, or you hate America etc. When they lose composure and go to blathering that you have pretty much won as they are down to their last desperate defense.

6. The Declaration of Independence crap
I love how those idiots love to quote that useless document. It's interesting historically, but it has no legal weight and never has.

8. The appropriate thing to do...
... is to put it back on them. Say, "pretend that I am as ignorant as you would hope I am, pretend that I have no formal training in history. Tell me how each of those documents prove that the United States of America is not a country, is not a nation state."

Cheers.

10. They make that attempt all the time.
They tell me to read this and that and then get back to them. My personal favorite is to then quote Marx or Hitler w/o recognizing who made the quote and no further argument (I like to say "My, I just read something that really changed my mind. I think that this will sum up every one of your arguments. I hope that you like it. I think that you will agree w/ every bit of it. Then slam the quote down, wait for them to gush over it and want to know who said it). Once they agree w/ it (and almost 90 percent seem to on some of the boards) you let them know who said it. They usually sputter or ignore you completely. Problem solved.
Mussolini is another good one to quote-they really seem to enjoy him until they find out who it is.
