How in the hell did Robert Blake get off?
I don't follow all these trials like Petterson, Jackson and Blake really couldn't care less. But didn't Blake even try to have other people kill her?

1. Reasonable doubt..
that's the test with a jury trial.

8. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
The case against him was a joke.

That is why he was found not guilty.

17. Actually they found residue
but there wasn't enough on him to prove that he shot his wife. All the could say was that he had fired a gun but probably some time before his wife was killed.

4. In Scots law, a jury can come to three outcomes.
Guilty, Not Guilty or Not Proven.

This is a classic Not Proven.

6. I could see him getting off for mental problems
I remember seeing him on the Carson show when he had his Berreta series he was a complete nut case then going on about the "suits" from the network all the time.

5. i think it's because of the witnesses used against him
they were kind of thuggish and the background of the victim. i think the defense just did a good job of putting enough doubt into the minds of the jury of Blake's guilt by highlighting the untrustworthiness of those testifying against Blake.

one lady said how she could not trust or take them seriously.

7. Indeed
It pays to farm out one's murder contracts to lowlifes who have no credibility in a jury trial. The boy is guilty as homemade sin. And no Baretta rerun will ever be enjoyable again.

9. the jury foreman said the prosecution simply could not make...
...any credible case against him. There was ZERO physical evidence linking him to the murder, despite the circumstances in which it would have been virtually impossible to have eliminated such evidence, i.e. blast residue on his hands or clothes. God knows the prosecutor tried to convict, so the jury's unanymity makes it genuinely hard to believe that he was, as you say, "guilty as homemade sin."

I hope he has some way to recover some of the 10 million dollars it cost him to defend himself.

11. Perhaps he really is innocent
I can see the possibility. But despite the lack of powder burns, it's all too easy to see him purchasing her death. Good thing for us all I'm not a paid "expert" on CNN, hehe.

18. No one in the American justice system is found innocent;
they're simply found something less than guilty.

10. First the evidence was flimsy
There was no real evidence produced that he killed her that night. No powder residue, nothing like that.

The evidence of the stuntman he supposedly hired, well, the defense presented evidence that they were drug addicts and unreliable, with a history of scams.

The jury looked at the evidence and said - sorry not enough to convict.

13. My theory is that the jury was worn out.
I honestly don't know. At least Scott Peterson won't walk.

14. Was the evidence against Blake any stronger than the evidence
that earned Scott Peterson a free life innoculation?

Like you, I didn't pay attention to the cases. But I am curious.

25. The strength of the evidence against Blake may have been
equal to that against Peterson. Don't overlook the sympathy of the jury toward the victim nor the degree of contempt toward the defendant.

that you don't know about it. I just figured that Blake probably gets off with some pretty freaky stuff. He just looks like the type.
